Model v Reality

In the National Railway Museum, in York, I came across the the original 1960s architects model of Euston Station before it was rebuilt in the late 60s. As I happen to regularly work in one of the buildings in that area, I wanted to take a pic of the model from the same vantage point I could get from the top floor of the real building and compare the two. It's kinda interesting.

Here is the model. Euston as envisioned in the early 60s...

Here is reality. Euston as viewed from the 14th floor of the tower on Melton St, 40 years later...

If I'd been a couple of years earlier, these images would have been even closer, as the grey strips you can see in the right hand side of the photo are the roofs of the new food outlets that opened there recently.
